I could spend the rest of my life in this field at Kumo Farms.

Wish I could say it was a tan line, but no—when I peeled off my shoes and socks, I realized I’ll go home with more dirt and sand than I will color.

The foundation and platform for the house we’re building for Habitat for Humanity’s Global Village on Moloka‘i.
We start the wall framing and siding today, and with luck we’ll get to build and install the roof trusses later in the week.

Lovely and cool in Seattle this morning, a nice counterpoint to the sun and heat of the next two weeks in Hawai‘i.
Yeah yeah, I know it’s a hard life....

Julie Anne’s KitchenAid is getting a workout today, first mixing the dough and shortly forming the pasta sheets we’ll use to make lasagna for our friend Neil’s birthday dinner tonight.

Walked all over the San Diego Zoo carting this 32-oz drink cup from hell. But hey, free refills!

NO ONE should have a stack of pancakes this high. Even for a promotional photo shoot.

Twenty-six strands of lights and the entire ornament collection all in six hours, to the accompaniment of the “Christmas favorites” iTunes playlist and a lovely dinner of Thanksgiving leftovers. Oh, and a brief pause to watch the lighting of the Westlake tree, the Space Needle, and the KING5 broadcast tower atop Queen Anne Hill.
Been a busy day!

Julie Anne’s home-made cinnamon rolls fresh from the oven. Her first try at scratch-made looks and smells pretty freakin’ good, even before they get their light drizzle of icing.

Newly cleaned burners and drip pans in place, a quick test of the burners to be sure we have them seated properly.
Crazy day of cooking may begin now!
Happy Thanksgiving :-D

Katharine wanted a photo of this tree in full foliage, but it seems her desire is meant to go unfulfilled.

Building across the alley after this morning’s fire alarm. No fire, thankfully. Just an early wake-up call for the entire neighborhood.

27 eggs boiled, two rolls of paper towels, and two egg-coloring kits later, we have:
22 Easter eggs. :-)

We actually made a U-turn to come back to this sign, which deserves ridicule like no other church sign I’ve seen.

Flying carpets
Flickr: Don NunnBalcony door was open, warm in the apartment and I was cooking. I kept hearing these odd boom/crash sounds. I wasn’t sure if it was a car backfiring or, who knows, gunshots or whatever.
When I went outside, I caught the end of the carpet installers’ four-floors-up carpet-tossing act.
My Treo’s microphone does no justice to the loudness of the slamming sound these carpet remnants were making.
I love living in the city. :-)
